Getting targeted traffic to come to your website is key to making the online profits you desire.  After all, it’s easier to get people who have an initial interest in product offers similar to yours to purchase your offer than to try to convince people who have little to no interest in product offers such as yours to buy.

Ranking highly in the search engines is also vital to succeeding online, as most people will look for specific information online via the search engines.  They’ll type in a keyword related to the topic of interest and look to see what web pages come up that cater to that topic of interest.

However, most people will only look at the first few listings on that search engine results page, and at most, will only look through the first page of listings.  Very few people look through to the second and third page of listings, and essentially no one will look beyond that.

Therefore, it’s not enough to rank for a specific keyword, but rather, you need to rank very highly for that keyword, high enough to outdo virtually everyone else who is catering to that niche that is interested in that topic.  Otherwise, you will get little to no targeted traffic from the search engines, and studies show that many web businesses get around 80% of their targeted traffic from the search engines.

Without ranking highly in the search engines, your chances of achieving great profits online are slim.
